Based in Denver, CO, Jennifer Rapacki is a tech-savvy fabric artisan specializing in combining traditional quilting techniques with technology driven designs and inkjet printing on fabric. She has been sewing since she was a child and her adult work life involved may jobs with computers. The two worlds merged in 2008 when she started printing her own fabric at home for her quilts. Her quilts have been juried into many major quilt shows. Today she shares her skills with other quilters by lecturing about Modern Technology for quilters, and teaches both computer quilt design and more traditional quilting techniques of fabric weaving and reverse applique.
Members: $25 (includes $5 kit fee)

Learn this technique by creating a unique textured background for a small wall quilt (20” x 14”) that looks pieced but isn’t! The technique involves weaving 1-inch wide raw edge strips of fabric on the diagonal along with raw edge applique. No piecing required, thus no Y-seams. In this 3-hour class the background can be woven and layered for stitching at home. (No lugging a machine to class.)
Deadline to register: October 18, 2022
Not a member of LNCQ but want to attend our meeting to see the program? Attend as a guest for $10

The secret to successful quilting is in the planning and preparation. I’ll guide you through the steps I take to make each quilting experience fun and stress free. Once you see my methods, you’ll feel empowered to quilt your own quilts! Learn how I baste my quilts, make a quilting plan, choose thread colors, divide and conquer each task, and apply rich texture with little to no marking of the quilt. I’m also excited to share my quilts and answer any questions you may have.
Learn to stitch beyond the ditch and unleash the power of your walking foot to quilt modern or traditional designs. Walking foot motifs to be taught include: wavy lines, decorative stitches, irregular grids, large continuous spirals, several straight line variations, and more!
Embrace perfectly imperfect free-motion quilting! That means little to no marking, and a whole lot of gorgeous texture. Ease into free-motion quilting with asymmetrical wavy lines, then move onto loops, traditional and modern stippling, plus curvy fillers like wishbones and cursive l’s that can expand to fit any space. Finish it off with several swirl variations, and you’ve got a toolbox of motifs to try on your next quilt!
You’ll be transported to a tiny island — just 13 acres — in the central Philippines as you enjoy images and stories of the colorful quilts and the more than 100 quiltmakers of Caohagan Island. You’ll see photos of more than 50 of these handmade, one-of-a-kind quilts plus be introduced to the unique techniques developed by these quiltmakers whose tools are simply fabric and scissors, needle and thread. I spent more than a month on the island, quilted with the residents, went fabric shopping with them on nearby Cebu Island, and snorkeled the reef that surrounds Caohagan. Those who view the quilts come away smiling, inspired by the creativity of these women and men.
This improvisational cutting and piecing technique created by Pam Rocco, formerly a columnist for Quilters Newsletter, is fun and quick. Each student’s quilt will be a unique creation. Pam used stripes and plaids because she wanted a quilt that looked like a rag rug. You can follow her lead or use any fabrics of your choosing. Cutting out this quilt is simple. You’ll freehand rotary cut 1”-3” wide strips with gentle curves without using rulers. Then you’ll stitch the strips together with no pinning. The end result is a high energy quilt that you can hang or drape over a couch or chair. It can also be used as a table or bed runner. The choice is yours!
